Around 8,000 people including 4,000 Indian devotees attended the feast.
According to the Sri Lanka Navy, devotees, mostly fishermen including women and children had arrived in 110 mechanised boats. The navy ferried people from the mainland to Kachchativu. All basic facilities to the devotees of the two countries, including sanitary, medical, and drinking water were facilitated by the Navy.
Reverend Father Justin Gnanaprakash conducted the prayer service with the participation of a group of Catholic priests from the two countries. Chief of staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Ravindra Wije-gunaratne and Northern Navy Commander Rear Admiral Sarath Dissanayaka attended the feast.
