    Awareness Program for farmers at Yakkala Village

    A programme to exchange the knowledge and experience of local as well as foreign farmers on the methods of successful cultivation confronting the climatic changes was launched at the Yakalla village in Galenbindunuwewa. The objective of this programme was to share knowledge and experience of getting a productive yield facing climatic changes.

    Climate change is perhaps the most serious environmental threat globally to the fight against hunger, malnutrition, disease and poverty globally, mainly through its impact on agricultural productivity. Not only in Sri Lanka but farmers in many countries in the world encounter poor harvest and there by yield lost due to climatic changes.

     

    During the programme discussions were centered around in Identifying the problems encountered by farmers in adapting to the effects of climate change and the strategy of securing a more productive yield successfully confronting the climatic changes
