Under the new government’s 100-Day programme, the Health Ministry in co-ordination with the Kidney Prevention Unit would distribute several ‘reverse osmosis water purification plants’ to people in the Anuradhapura District on Feb. 23, Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said yesterday. President Maithripala Sirisena would be distributing the water purification plants.
Dr. Senaratne said that this measure was taken with the disclosure made by Chronic Kidney Disease researchers that agro-chemical residue had contaminated water sources.
Also, the hospitals situated in the Anuradhapura District would be given more haemodialysis machines to treat critically ill CKD patients, the Health Minister added.
