The Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) is the highest professional specialization course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy for its logistics branch officers. The first and the second semesters of the course consisting of 50 weeks of academic studies commenced on 03rd February 2014 at the Naval & Maritime Academy and terminated on 08th February 2015. The subject modules were conducted by qualified lecturers from the Eastern University and the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). As all the 20 officers, who followed the course, successfully completed the first and second semesters, they are now qualified to proceed with the research component in next consecutive 26 weeks in their respective appointments to secure the master's degree, MBA in Logistics Management from the KDU.
Lieutenant Commander (S) KVD Weerarathne secured the First-in-Order-of-Merit award of the course and Lieutenant Commander (S) TS Kolonne won the prize for the Highest Aggregate in academic subjects. The award for the Most Inspirational Officer of the course was awarded to Lieutenant Commander (S) BPGNP Gunawardene. The certificate awarding ceremony was followed by a Mess Guest Night, which was held in keeping with the customs and traditions of the Navy at the Eastern Naval Area Wardroom.
The Vice Chancellor of the Eastern University Dr. Kiddnan Kobindarajah, the Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Major General Milinda Peiris, Mrs. Shalika Perera, the Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Rohana Perera, Director Generals and senior officers representing the Naval Headquarters, the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy and Heads of Department of the Eastern Naval Command were also present on the occasion.
