Minister expressed these sentiments while addressing troops at the Mullaithivu Security Forces Headquart on Saturday (7th Feb).
He also mentioned that, high-regard would be given to the Armed Forces as they deserve it, while maintaining closer ties with the troops. The national security would not be disregarded at any cost and it would be further strengthened, he also said.
Meanwhile, priority would be given to further enhance the knowledge and the skills of the troops. Moreover, opportunities to join with the peacekeeping missions would also be enhanced in due course while making closer ties with respective foreign nations, he noted.
Further speaking he went on to say that, every effort would be initiated to enhance the welfare facilities of the valiant war heroes and their families.
Referring to the misinformation disseminated in the recent past with regard to the security situation in North & East, Minister emphasized to the parties with vested interests, not to fool-around with pity politics in a sensitive subject such as 'Defence'.
The visiting high official was presented a memento to mark the first official visit to Mullaithivu during the session.
Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Forces Commanders, Security Forces Commander - Mullaithivu and the regional heads of respective military commands accompanied the Minister during the Mullaithivu visit.
