The Department of Customs and the Department of Motor Traffic revealed that during the first nine months of 2014, vehicle imports have risen by 34% while new registrations increased by 10% to 269,550 compared to same period in 2013.
During the first three quarters of this year 314,635 vehicles were imported to Sri Lanka, up 34% compared to 234,548 imported in the same period last year.
Import of buses has increased by 70 percent with registration increasing by 51 percent, the import of motor cars rose by 24 percent with registration going up by 22 percent.
