The foundation stone laying ceremony will be held on Nov.28 under the patronage of Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs W.D.J.SenevirathnaThe school will be built at a cost of 600 million rupees at the Weralugas Junction in Ratnapura New Town.
The Ministry of Education has proposed to establish 09 fully equipped model national Schools in the nine Provinces in the country with the objective of minimizing the severe overcrowding that has to be confronted in the provision of schools to the students who have passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
Mahinda Rajapaksa National School located in Homagama, is the first school established under the Project as well as Mahinda Rajapaksa College established in Sarasavi Uyana in Matara in 2013 is the second school of this Programme.
These schools are also equipped with facilities for the teaching of national and international languages as well as laboratory and Computer facilities.(KH)
