According to the Ministry, the target could be achieved in 2016 as 25 million coconut seedlings had already been planted and many incentives have been granted to the cultivators.
The normal price of a 50 kilo pack of coconut fertilizer is around 4000 rupees. However, the Government will continue to provide it to cultivators at the rate of 1250 rupees. The cultivators have been included in the Farmers Pension Scheme and the Crop Insurance Scheme. (ST/KH)
