    Government to set up garment factories in resettled villages

    The Government plans to establish new garment factories to provide employment opportunities for the youth in resettled villages in the North.The programme will be a joint collaboration of Sri Lanka Textile and Garment Institute, Sri Lanka Garment Exporters Association and Trade and Industrial Ministry.

    Initially five garment factories will be set up in Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Mannar Districts for which 75 acres have already been selected.

     

    The Government plans to open new garment factories to provide thousands of jobs to the youth in the North. Selecting of lands in this regard has been completed. Five garment factories will be set up initially at Vavuniya, Mullaithivu and Mannar Districts. 75 acres have been selected and allocated for those factories.

     

    The Government has taken steps to provide all facilities to improve the apparel industry while providing enough incentives to investors. (ST/KH)
