The scheme is aimed at boosting the scope of research, quality education and improved access to information and communication technology among the University level students.
The Project to distribute computer tablets was funded out of the net proceeds from Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association’s various fundraising initiative during the current year including the popular annual Ramazan & Eid Trade Bazaar.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Maj. Gen(R) Qasim Qureshi appreciated the efforts of the Association to empower the deserving Sri Lankan youth by contributing to bridge the digital divide. He hoped that students will utilize the computers tablets prudently in the advancement of their studies.
The President of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association said that the motivation and enthusiasm behind this scheme was to help students rise above problems and hurdles they face in their path to gain knowledge and excel professionally. The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association is one of the oldest Friendship Association of Sri Lanka which was established 63years back in 1950. The Association has been able to establish itself as a useful platform, dedicated to the promotion of bilateral relationship and friendship between the two brotherly countries of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.(KH)
