    Compensation to 1500 war affected families of North under President's patronage on Oct.12

    The government has allocated Rs.300 million rupees for this year alone to pay compensation to civilians of the North who were impacted by the war out of which 110 million rupees has already been paid. Compensation is being awarded on behalf of civilians who had lost their limbs and hands and also house and property.

     

    The Government’s intention is to complete the awarding of compensation before the end of this year.

     

    Accordingly, granting of compensation totaling 130 million rupees for 1500 families will take place at Iranamadu in Kilinochchi under the patronage of President Rajapaksa on October 12.

     

    Action has already being taken to repair 100 places of worship that had been damaged by the war. The programme is operative via the District Secretaries and Divisional Secretaries under the supervision of Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera.
