The Israel Center for International Agricultural Cooperation (CINADCO) organized an awareness programme with Export Development Board (EDB) for farmers engaged in cultivation of fresh fruit and vegetables in central province. It is a one week awareness programme with visits to farms and research centers covering all areas in Israel. Sri Lankan group consist 8 participants from central province. Deputy Director-Central Province of EDB also participated to the programme. Israel embassy in India also assisted to this programme successful.
The Ambassador Sarath Wijesinghe awarded certificates to participants at the Ministry of Agriculture recently. In this occasion he proposed to start a "Center for Excellence" in Sri Lanka to spread knowledge between farmers with Israel assistance.
The Ambassador offered his gratitude to Israel government for assistance given by them to develop various sectors including agriculture.(KH)
