In coincide with the “International Beach Clean-up Day”, a week for National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation had been declared from 15th to 21st Sep. in Sri Lanka. According to the program me, Sri Lanka Navy contributed it providing assistant in the Coastal Cleanup campaigns.
Accordingly, clean-up activities around the coastal environments in Northern, Southern, North Western and North Central naval commands were carried out by naval personnel with the participation of school children, volunteer organizations and general public in the respective areas. Further, Sri Lanka Navy is always committed to clean eco systems in the coastal line in view of conserving a clean beach and marine resources.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
