Lanka Sathosa had increased its income to Rs.15.28 billion during the first seven months of this year, which is an increase of Rs.900 million over the corresponding period of last year which was Rs.14.38 billion.
Through Lanka Sathosa outlets, consumers can buy essential goods of every description and other commodities at lower prices than the prevailing market prices and the government could also actively intervene in controlling prices of essential goods.
The prices of essential commodities such as sugar, dhal, big onions, potatoes, green gram, chickpeas, chillies, chicken, tinned fish and sprats, etc. at Lanka Sathosa outlets are lower than in the open market price. (ST/KH)
