According to Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama 2,750 M/Tons has been supplied to ships calling at the Hambantota Sea Port since commencement of hunkering facilities.. He said ships of any size can be accommodated at this sea port.
One of the advantages seen with the commencement of the Hambantota Port for the vessels which sail from Dubai and Singapore is that Hambantota being mid region, would enable those vessels to carry more containerized cargo and less fuel with the option of refueling at Hambantota.
The Hambantota Port would also attract Indian vessels sailing. (KH/SI)
