Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi was also present at the occasion.

On arrival, State Minister Wijewardene was warmly received by the Vice Chancellor of KDU Major General Milinda Peiris.

Amidst religious blessings the State Minister declared open the complexes and subsequently made an inspection visit to both facilities.

The 8 storied Student Accommodation Complex is comprised of 300 rooms. In addition an accommodation facility for the visitors of the patients was also declared open by the Minister.

State Minister and Secretary Defence placed their signatures in the Visitors' Book. Major General Peiris presented a memento to State Minister Wijewardene to mark the occasion.

MoD officials, KDU staff and undergrads were also presented at the occasion.
