The Minister participating in the third reading stage debate on the Budget 2015 under the expenditure headings of the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations said that the government had brought forward a pension scheme for the garment sector workers it was disrupted by putting forth a problem pertaining to the Employment Provident Fund.
Minister said that the content of the budget proposals indicated that the government had been considerate of workers of various sectors including farmers. “The government had been increasing the wages of public sector workers during the recent past in various proportions. The allowances given to them have been increased upto Rs 10,000. The basic minimum salary of each of the public sector worker has been increased upto Rs 15,000. The President had held extensive discussions with the employers as well as trade unions while the budget proposals were preparing so the government could bring about a successful budget which provides concessions to all sectors,” the Minister added.
