    Decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting held on 22.01.2019 Featured

    1.2nd Action Plan of the Open National Partnership (Document No 05)
    It is expected that citizen participation and transparency will be developed through the second action plan of open national partnership and hence the government responsibility will be enhanced towards Sri Lankan citizens. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by H.E. the Presidend Maithreepala Sirisena to implement the second action plan of open national partnership (2018-2020) with the participation of relevant state institution and to appoint a inter ministerial management committee for supervision and guidance.
    2.Reorganization of the Police (Document No.07)
    The proposal presented by H.E. the president Maithreepala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defense to implement the Police Reorganization Action Plan was approved by the cabinet of Ministers in principle.
    3.Reconstruction of three story building where the Ahangama Police Station is being functioning. (Document No 10)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by H.E. the President Maithreepala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defense to secure an amount of Rs. 33.4 million for reconstructions and renovations of the three story building where Ahangama Police Station is being functioning.

    4.Widening the range of financial assistance provided by the “Enterprise Sri Lanka” Program (Document No. 20)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to widen Loan scheme that implemented under "Enterprise Sri Lanka" Program covering foreign employees who wish to get housing loans, Private Bus Owners who are look forward to operate Intercity Busses in lieu of normal busses, investors who expect to build and improve elderly care centers and Three wheelers who are desirous of being taxi owners.

    5.Revising Value Added Tax Act No.14 of 2002 to grant tax relief (Document No. 22)
    The proposal presented by Hon.Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to amend the Value Added Tax Act No.14 of 2002 to reintroduce tax release for importing Air busses and Accessories, Sawn Timber, textiles and bran oil and enable the Minister to determine the value added tax base with respect to some goods in order to protect government revenue.

    6.Parliamentary approval for gazette notifications issued under the Revenue Protection Act No.19 of 1962(Document No.23 )
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to present the gazette notification No.2079/32, No.2092/8, No.2097/36 that issued under Revenue Protection Act No 19 of 1962 for parliamentary approval.
    7.Paddy purchasing program during Maha Season 2018/2019 (Document No.32)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. P.Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & aquatic resources to secure funds that required by the Paddy Purchasing Board to purchase paddy during this Maha Season.

    8.Reimbursement of Crop damages due to Fall Army worm under the compulsory crop insurance program (document no 33).
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. P.Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & aquatic resources for the reparation of damages done by Fall Army Worm under the compulsory crop insurance program and to secure additional provisions from the treasury.

    9.Simplifying the methodology for registering exporters.(Document No. 43)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Malik Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade to cancel the Registration methodology presently being executed by the Export Development Board.

    10.Machinery and Designing contract for civil, mechanical and electrical works of Walachchena Water Supply Project(Document NO.50)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Rauff Hakeem , Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education to award the machinery and designing contract for civil, mechanical and electric works of Walachchena Water Supply Project to M/s China Geo Engineering Company Limited and China National Aero Technology International Engineering Corporation joint venture.

    11.Construction of Motor Vehicle and Power System Laboratory in Moratuwa University Engineering Faculty(Document No.51)
    Raiffecisem Bank International AG of Austria has agreed to provide a soft loan scheme for the implementation of this project. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Rauff Hakeem , Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education to obtain a detailed project report form AVL List GmbH of Austria regarding the above project.

     

    12.Procurement to procure 12,000 metric tons of Maize required for producing “Thriposha”
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Dr. Rajitha Senarathna Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine to award the contract of purchasing 12,000 metric tons of Maize to M/s KST Evergreen Pvt. Ltd for Rs.670.8 million upon the recommendation of Cabinet appointed standing procurement committee.

    13.Kalu Ganga Development Project designed to prevent flood, restrain mixing salt water and supply drinking water to Hambantota District from Kalu river.(Document No 54)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. P.Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & aquatic resources to obtain expression of interest proposals from International Construction Companies , call for project proposals from appropriate construction companies and to appoint cabinet appointed committees to assess those proposals.

    14.Provide drinking water for model villages and accomplished settlements in the areas that affected by the kidney disease (Document No 64)
    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Rauff Hakeem , Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education to implement Kirindioya water purification plant improvement project with an investment of Rs.298 million facilitating 703 families in 18 model villages in Lunugamwehera and Thissamaharama Divisional Secretariats.
