The Sports Minister made this observation when he called on the Jaffna Bishop Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam recently. He said the sports festival will pave the way for the people in the country to take part in the national event without any differences.
He further emphasised that the Sports activities in Northern Province will promote understanding & contacts among the youth of different ethnic and religious communities thus reducing and eventually eliminating room for tension & conflict. He urged to think as a new generation and get together to strengthen the work being carried out by the President and the Prime Minister.
The Minister further pointed out that holding the National Sports Festival in Kilinochchi will also help to upgrade sports facilities in Northern Province and to demonstrate the commitment of the government and the people to take tangible steps towards reconciliation and harmony.
