    Sri Lanka, Pakistan ink eight bilateral instruments Featured

    Sri Lanka and Pakistan signed eight bilateral instruments in several fields including cooperation in trade, financial intelligence, science and technology and healthcare at a ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat today (05) in the presence of Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Srisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

    An Agreement on cooperation in the field of health was signed between Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and the Pakistan government.

     

    The MoU on cooperation in the exchange of intelligence related to money laundering and terrorism financing was signed between the Financial Intelligence Unit of Sri Lanka and Financial Monitoring Unit of Pakistan.

     

    Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Research signed an MoU with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Pakistan in the field of scientific innovation and cooperation.

     

    The National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka and Pakistan Science Foundation inked a MoU on scientific and technological cooperation.

     

    A MoU on sharing statistical and census data was signed between the Department of Census and Statistics of Sri Lanka and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

     

    An MoU between Sri Lanka’s Ministry of International Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage was signed on cooperation in the field of culture.

     

    The Export Development Board (EDB) of Sri Lanka and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) signed a MoU on cooperation in trade.

     

    The MoU for cooperation between the Gem and Jewellery Research and Training Institute of Sri Lanka and the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design was also inked.

     

    Minister of Science, Technology and Research Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Health Rajitha Senarathna, Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Internal Affairs - Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs S.B.Navinna,Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrema, State Minister of National Policy and Economic Affairs Niroshan Perera and Udaya R.Senevirathna Secretary Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment inked the relevant documents on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government.

     

    Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Secretary Commerce Muhammad Shehzad Arbab inked the relevant documents on behalf of the Pakistani Government.
