The Government has decided to launch an emergency Pre-Hospital Care Ambulance Service within Sri Lanka with assistance from the Indian Government.
India had agreed to provide a grant of 7.6 million US Dollars during the Indian tour of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe for the launch of the first stage covering the Western and Southern Provinces. Cabinet nod was received for the appointment of a Joint Project Supervision Committee for the signing of an MOU in this respect.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
